Publisher Excel Cards

EXCEL Cards I would be grateful for any information about the publisher(s) who produced cards with the Logo EXCEL SERIES. Postal dates are prolific throughout the 1930's. When did they first appear ? Was Excel a distinct publishing company, or the name of an established company's sub-company? Any de...

Publisher The Knight Collection

Can anyone offer any background to the title "The Knight Collection" ? Does the name connect with the two Knight brothers, Watson and George ? Apparently they had worked for Wrench, but left to set up on their own. They were active with their own business for, in seems, only a short time: ...

Mesopotamian Campaign - First World War

I am looking for cards relating to the First World War Mesopotamian Campaign 1916-18, especially anything connected to the Kut action of 1917; Basra encampments; River Tigris troop movements etc.

Dulverton, Somerset. PUB

Are there any postcards of Dulverton which show the former public house called the BOOT INN? The larger Lamb and Lion pubs
feature quite commonly, but I've never found a card that showed the Boot Inn.

Re: Happithought and Arcadian Series

A follow up on the Arcadian Series. I have in my possession 5 postcards of Southampton ref A352/1121. They have not been posted but where the stamps would be put are the words " A half penny stamp for inland, one penny foreign" Presumably this would give them an approximate date if invest...

Re: Happithought and Arcadian Series

Think I may have tracked them down............. Firstly here is an image of the Southampton one I mentioned previously and I can confirm the postal date as 1916. http://i1018.photobucket.com/albums/af307/deanosaur1972/arcardian.jpg http://i1018.photobucket.com/albums/af307/deanosaur1972/arcardianBA...

Happithought and Arcadian Series

Is there anyone with information on the HAPPITHOUGHT Series? The postally-used ones I have (of Exmouth, Devon) have postal dates of the 1950's. But I think the images are all from an earlier period. They are poor quality cards - poor processing on poor card. I assume that this could have been becaus...

Exmouth and Chulmleigh: quality cards

I am looking for quality examples of postcards of EXMOUTH: streets, shops, schools, gardens/parks, leisure, people, harbour/docks, ferries, lifeboat, events. Also, examples of cards by Murduck, Puddicombe, Castle, Lloyd, Appleby. I do NOT need standard views of the seafront/beach/promenade etc. CHUL...

BIPEX 2007

Very interested in Moonraker's views. I came away with much the same feeling. I looked for unfamiliar (to me) dealers and was delighted to find one who had his cards brilliantly categorised and with boxes that were easy to extract from. Another had a special box, alphabetically arranged, of post-war...

File Behind or in Front

Spent most of the day at the PPC Show on Friday. The same dilemma of behind/foward continues. I now find it mildly amusing. I am inclined to assume "behind", but I always check. I do, however, object to the snappy "infront" dealers ( and it is always those) who hiss at you even b...

dating postcards

Hi, As I have only recently registered, I was wondering if I did everything right, as I sent you a message suggesting two other potential indicators of postcard publication dates: presence/non-presence of Queen Victoria Diamond Jubilee clocktowers (which many places erected to mark the event) and th...
