It's been a while since I was on this site, but does anyone know the dates for the Canterbury Postcard Fairs in 2013?
Many thanks
Andrew

Re: Why Do You Collect Postcards?
Why do I collect postcards? I started because I was interested in castles, and it was a cheap way of obtaining pictures of such places without having to take my own photos, or even going to the place. Now it's just a hobby - part of collecting old prints and books on my subject too. There is no inte...

Hi,
I've come across another one. It's of Ightham Mote, Kent, and numbered 12106.

Re: London Postcard Fair - how was it for you?
I went on the Friday - and that being for only three hours. It was quiet (the last 3 hours of the day), and I wish I had been there for longer. I didn't get round to all I wanted to see, and that's the fault of one dealer, whose stall had me enthralled for more time than I had allowed for. Maybe nex...

Re: Making Your Own Postcards
Unfortunately, because of the relatively low number of people making use of the Photo-Postcard service offered through Clear Thought™ Publications, this service has now been discontinued.

Re: Art Postcards
I love the art postcards. Even if not from my particular line of interest (castles), many would look good mounted and framed.

Re: Short, sharp messages
Guy, That's an interesting take on collecting postcards - one I've not come across before. Admittedly I look for the picture, but my wife is more interested in the social aspect of reading what I consider the "back" of the card. I might have some, but there again, I wouldn't know unless I ...

Re: Any feedback would be greatly helpful/appreciated :)
Hi, I collect postcards of castles, preferably ones that are pre-1940. I also travel round taking photos of the castles asa they are today, as a comparison. Furthermore, I collect old prints and engravings, but have been trying to concentrate on a few particular areas - Kent, Northumberland, Isles o...

Re: Visiting UK Fairs
Was at the Canterbury Postcard Fair on Saturday (13th). This fair is not listed on the main list of fairs, so for those interested, the dates for the remainder of the year, courtesy of Clive Baker, are:- 17th April 12th June 28th August (the main event) 9th October 11th December I must admit that th...

Re: To eBay or not to eBay?
I have tended to be a buyer on e-bay, although have sold the occasional item. I find the process of selling rather laborious, and since one knows the fees in advance, I have no sympathy for anyone who complains about them. If you don't like it, don't trade there. I'm not championing e-bay though. I ...

Re: Best site to collect?
I use e-bay. But most of my cards come from postcard fairs. I also scour "antique shops", but these rarely produce anything worthwhile - for me.

Re: Picture Postcard Show
Yes, I went, but only purchased eleven postcards. Mind you, given that I was there for just under three hours (day two, 4pm-6:45pm), that's not bad going. i also purchased another album from Rob Roy Albums. I thought the show - at least what I saw of it - was just as good as the last couple of years...

Canterbury, August 2009
I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who was involved in the Annual Postcard Fair on Saturday 29th August.
THANK YOU.
I brought along two friends, who have now been bitten by the postcard collecting bug.
