QR codes on stamps

The British PO will only allow stamps with QR codes after next Jan so you can't reuse unfranked stamps after that date!

Re: Shorthand on Postcards

Can't read shorthand but have small collection of other codes on cards, none of the messages turn out to be earthshaking! Of course there were lots of telegraphists about so messages exchanged in Morse code are not uncommon.

Wrench/ Hartmann postcards

I find lots of apparently Wrench cards (of London) with Hartmann logo, did they take the images over when Wrench's failed? or was it the German printers? (Wrenches published lots of card of quite obscure London streets, Hartmann possibly only printed images of popular streets)

Re: Cost of a postcard c1915

probably 1d or 1/2d but a lot of cards were given away free in magazines etc, they were also "remaindered" at various prices. I have a few cards advertising remaindered lots' 100 B&W 6d, coloured 1/6d post free! Thridgould's offered to print 500 B&W of your local view photo for 15s...

Re: POSTCARD COLLECTORS MAGAZINE

Sorry, I haven't looked at this site for a time, I used to contribute to PPM, but I think he was in unique position of having too many contributors! I wonder what Brian thinks of Mark's actions, its not long since he took over? I've been in contact with Helmfried Luers about Picture Postcard Album w...

Re: Dating this card?

I have looked at University website and eventually found some Capetown images, yours is not amongst them so not very helpful. I have found more useful on London postcards, Valentines like many other postcard publishers were printing large books of views for tourists before picture postcards were eve...

Re: Dating this card?

The University of St Andrews (Scotland) Special Collections have Valentines original pics etc and if you can find they should have the date taken but some are wrong careful! Also database is HUGE now and I find it very unwieldy to use. I might have a go but even I find it hard to use!

obliterated postcard message

I wondered if this was done by PO in order they could sell "insufficiently addressed" card (88 is E District Office, right for Aldgate) There are possibly a couple of attempts to deliver, 1 pencil, the other blue crayon, but can't read. Did they try to return to sender, I see Louis gave hi...

Re: Arthur W Hobart aerial photographer

Unfortunately the June-December 1940 copies of the Cornishman are missing from Morrab Library, I did look at Deaths and obits for that period in West Briton but they might not have put it in both or I mighta missed it! Cornishman serves Penzance, W Briton Truro, I will have to look somewhere else. H...

Re: Arthur W Hobart aerial photographer

Thanks for that, sounds like him, Prah was in Kerrier then, Dave (Sorry I dislike paying for info on web, don't belong to anything, am I alone in finding web increasingly unhelpful nowadays, its all advertising, it was mostly history in old days?!)

Arthur W Hobart aerial photographer

Anxious to find out anything about Arthur W Hobart, aerial photographer, Croydon, Kenley, Plymouth and Prah Sands (Cornwall where I live but now spelt Praa!) active in the 1920's, possibly flew in WWI, I can find what pics he took (mostly not for cards but used some views on his advertising card) bu...
