Re: Hand Painted Postcards
Lean pickings again of late but this evening I picked up this card for just £2,55 including postage. "Claggan Farm" - it has look of Ireland about it but the snow topped mountains make Scotland a distinct possibility - I wonder if anyone recognises the location or can make out what it says...

Re: Hand Painted Postcards
My latest acquisition is this nice winter scene which I am adapting for my personal 2024 Christmas card. Posted from Westerland in Schleswig-Holstein, Northern Germany on the 21st October 1903 to Davenport, LA in the USA. It is a detailed piece which must have been produced by a skilled hand and wor...

Re: Hand Painted Postcards
Another mercy purchase on eBay today. The artist 'Bob' painted this card of Salcombe Cliffs, Sidmouth in July 1921 and posted it to a friend in Essex. He describes it as his first attempt at painting and " rotten " - a little harsh and I love the way the colours are still vibrant more than...

Re: Hand Painted Postcards
After another fallow period not helped by lack of time for searches I stumbled on two previously unseen OAS cards on eBay this morning. I briefly toyed with the idea of making offers and then thought better of it and went ahead with the BIN option. €60 including p+p from the USA - yikes! They are un...

You forgot to mention the reason it's easier to navigate - there's nothing on it compared to eBay and even Delcampe.

Re: Who is the top postcard AUCTION house???
I tried signing up to sell on eBay today - having put all the Brexit/Global Shipping etc. to one side - but I fell at the final hurdle as they wanted me to link to a bank account on their list. The only one with a branch in the Republic on the list was the Ulster Bank and they are leaving the Irish ...

Re: Hand Painted Postcards
Little enough coming up for sale these days and so I made another mercy purchase this morning and bought this untitled, unsigned and unposted, card on eBay for just £1.49 including p+p! Judging by the appearance of the card - an early undivided back - it's probably the best part of 120 years old. No...

Super set of cards but I'm afraid I can't throw any light on the rescue.

Re: Hand Painted Postcards
After a lean few months I picked up this little work of art on eBay tonight for just £5.95 including p+p. Christchurch Priory in Dorset - a lot of detail packed into a small space. https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiUzDcVOEXQS3gMTo30nxy7Bs-5lm94N03EGV5NmZY93vHkWjrfOZmg0-VqXuP60OgDsCo...

Re: Who is the top postcard AUCTION house???
eBay is still the best by far for buying but I gave up selling there a good while ago. Brexit, the dopey Global Shipping Programme and then the messing about with the payment system was the final straw. Being based in the Republic of Ireland, I have had to resort to having all my purchases from eBay...

Re: Postcard passion!
Judging from my own experience I would agree that postcard and stamp collecting are in terminal decline. Obviously the valuable items will still find homes with investors and an increasingly elderly pool of serious collectors but young people have zero interest in collecting anything. They have litt...

Re: Where is everybody?
I have asked this question here before and to quote the postman in "Oh, Mr.Porter" when he observed Will Hay planting his lobelias - ' you're wasting your time '. It has to be down to the age profile of postcard collectors, the laziness of the PTA dealers (the bulk of whom neither post her...

Re: Hand Painted Postcards
I picked up these three Dartmoor cards on eBay recently - just £20 - and by the same hand as the first card in this thread but from a different dealer. No clue as to who the artist was but they were certainly talented https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MRQcJ0PB3M4/YUD4FGxvkTI/AAAAAAAAnE4/Z3gG0D5Vt2oMlMSu-8P...
