Re: Postcard took 27 years to be delivered
Wow! - that is unusual and a newsworthy item, indeed. I would say that it has a value above the Postcard itself if it is genuine - but, hard to put an exact price on it? There are collectors of 'oddities' like this in the stamp world as well who would snap it up, I'm sure.

Re: Hildesheimer Postcards
Welcome - well, these are not a well-known series as far as I know, I've certainly never seen or heard of this set before. The 5000 series of postcard sets were not started by Hildesheimer until 1904/05 - so your set will probably have been produced before then. Hope it helps, Steve

Re: Postcard Collecting Project
Well, I just like Old things and have always collected something or other. Postcards I enjoy in particular because you never know what is out there to find - unlike stamps, let's say, which are all listed and catalogued and known about - with no real surprises (I'll probably get beaten down for sayi...

Re: German postcards
Hello Di - it would be best to contact a Postcard Dealer near to where you live - they will be happy to advise you. Alternatively, visit a Postcard fair if you can - again most dealers will be happy to help if they are able to view them. A list of fairs and dealers can be found on the PTA website: h...

Good news - I am fortunate to have a contact in New Zealand who has been successful in acquiring the card on your behalf from the original seller - if you still want the postcard please PM me with your details and I can put you two in touch with each other if that's OK - best wishes

Re: A J Padgett
Hi I have just joined this group and found it by chance while searching for photos by Alfred Padgett. Alfred Padgett is a relation of mine. His son Alan Padgett was married to my grandmother's sister Mabel Webb. I have tried to find out what happened to their collection of photographs and understan...

Re: Hello and some questions.
Hello - a nice way to raise funds - hope it is successful. The one you feature would have been produced after 1902 at the earliest - that's the date when divided backs on Postcards were finally allowed to pass through the post in this country. A halfpenny was the rate of inland postage at the time. ...
