Re: Christmas Greetings
Where does time ago? Another absolutely manic year and we're approaching Christmas again. Here's my latest offering and my personal card for 2018. Original postcard purchased for a couple of pounds and with a little magic from Vistaprint good to go. The wonderful original hand-painted card was sent ...

Re: Hand Painted Postcards
My latest acquisition is this nice card titled " A scene in the New Forest " unposted but probably from the early 1900s - a bargain on eBay at just £4.95 including postage. That said if I put a price on the hours that I spend searching! https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ckxY7ba1Euc/W_AcxJVM7jI/AA...

Re: Hand Painted Postcards
And further confirmation today with a duplicate of another card in my collection turning up on Delcampe. Subtle differences in colours and it rather confirms my suspicion that the artist was running some sort of cottage industry. https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ifggtn0ud0Y/W7-qKTfLtFI/AAAAAAAAe0A/D-DIQBI...

Re: Hand Painted Postcards
At last tonight I got partially to the bottom of a mystery that has been puzzling me for a while. I have been gradually acquiring a collection of cards ' seemingly ' handpainted by an artist signing themselves O.A.S. but there was something about them that indicated that they might have been mass pr...

Re: Hand Painted Postcards
I continue to save lost souls and thought that this poor Robin - probably c.100+ years old - deserved to live again. All of 99 pence on eBay yesterday and I'm already toying with another Vistaprint Christmas card idea. https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-e-xQZthBS70/W7yRCuSKmhI/AAAAAAAAeyw/fF8utgDBBMoIRZ99MM...

Stehli Freres STF Art cards
Another series of cards that I've recently started collecting are these superb bird paintings by Swiss artist Eugen Hartung (1897-1973). I'm not sure what decade they date from, possibly late 1940's or pre-war WWII? A little bit about the publishers - Stehli Freres, Zurich - below. https://3.bp.blog...

Well, I didn't think that it was possible but the sexy new website makes the Message Forum even less obvious. Great move!

Re: Scholastic Production Co. Belfast
One mystery solved but a lot more to go... L Murdoch After several years trying to track down this mysterious artist, I have finally cracked it - thanks in the main to Mervyn Scott from Portstewart. It seems that I had been looking for the wrong artist all the time and L Murdoch was actually Lilian ...

Re: Hand Painted Postcards
Another mercy purchase and this one had been on Delcampe for quite a long time attracting no interest - not bad for just £2.40 including p+p. It has a certain simple charm and is a keeper. I still find myself having to wade through thousands of mislabelled cards - everything from hand-tinted cards t...

Destined to be one of my Christmas cards this year but not necessarily in this template. I just...

Why is the Message Forum so quiet?
It has been discussed before but I can't find the thread. The level of activity here is quite disheartening and inexplicable - to me - as there are at least 90 PTA dealers listed on the site and if each one of them posted just once a year it would probably double the number of posts. I don't know ho...
