Not been here for a while but what's the point of a dealer going thru a loada cards pricing them at say £4 and then selling them for 50p, who are they trying to kid? (but I did sell such a one for £36 on e bay!)

Again, you might try to see if there are old Bradford Trade Directories on the University of Leicester website or purchase the old directory on CD, Stepping Stones used to do them

Sorry, no luck with my meagre collection of reference books, they might be in Byatts "Postcard Publishers" if someone has a copy (currently about £60 on Amazon!) or you might try to find them in old London Trade Directories, you should be able to find them online on Leicester University's ...

Nothing to do with porters, even Cole Porter, colportage is the distribution of leaflets, usually religous based. They must have bought and overprinted my (tatty) Misch postcard (remainders?) of Harland & Wolfes Shipbuilding Yard, Belfast (ships being precariously built on flimsy wooden scaffold...

I'm not well in with the collecting fratternity in Cornwall, wonder if any of the leading lights know anything?
