I thought that some of you might be interested in this item from my Art blog: https://irishartindex.wordpress.com The night of the 29th December, 1940, saw one of the largest and most destructive German air raids on London during World War.II. More than 24,000 high explosive bombs and 100,000 incend...

Re: Scholastic Production Co. Belfast
I picked up another Scholastic card on eBay this evening - a scarce one by Maurice C Wilks - only the second one I have come across in the last 2/3 years. As luck would have it two other people wanted it too and so it ended up costing me just over £10. One of the artist's better cards! https://1.bp....

Re: Scholastic Production Co. Belfast
I'm still pursuing Scholastic Art cards and I picked up this on eBay during the week. Hand-coloured/tinted and not of a type that I'm familiar with from Scholastic, it turned out to have no publisher indicated. Apparently, hand colouring died out in the 1930's and this would fit the date that the or...

Re: Scholastic Production Co. Belfast
Still plodding along with my Scholastic postcard collection and due to their scarcity I tend to buy almost everything - especially the art cards. Below is my latest acquisition - purchased from a French seller on Delcampe - €5.65 incl.p+p. Not one of the artist's finest works but worth having anyway...

Re: eBid...
And Steve, thanks to your tip I bought this one on eBid tonight. Even the chap who had it listed had to check if it was printed or the genuine article! https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ckZni9aGSnY/WHQXZCBb_uI/AAAAAAAAE6E/tL75Hqats3AlJSj7UGHK-CM5OXl_P-ACACLcB/s1600/Beacon%2BCrail%2Bhand%2Bpainted%2Bpc.jpg ...

Re: eBid...
Have to agree with Moonraker , eBid is useless - handpainted postcards brought up just 3 items today. eBay for all its faults remains the only place to find anything and Delcampe is rubbish since they altered the site. :( Well, I managed to find 21 'hand painted' postcards (as opposed to 'handpaint...

Re: Albums and Auctions
Caveat Emptor! There's real no other answer to this because if you bid online it's what you're up against. Did you leave, or threaten to leave, negative feedback? I find that even with online auctions it's fairly easy to spot dubious listings, but then I'm on the auction scene for more years than I ...

Re: To eBay or not to eBay?
I use eBay to buy/sell on, but the latter less with each passing month. I only buy on Delcampe. I find there's an enormous number of sellers trying to sell overpriced tat on eBay and to a lesser extent Delcampe. Many dealers can't even be bothered to indicate the publishers name. I collect Irish car...

Re: Looking for Irish clubs
Good luck with that! I live in Ireland and have become interested in collecting Irish cards, but there's little or nothing out there. No club that I can identify at all in the Republic, and the Northern Ireland Postcard Club are invisible. Such is my level of frustration that I have resorted to sort...

Can anybody tell me when this company ceased operating or were they taken over? Thanks.
