Re: Best Postcard Fairs - Scottish Postcards

Shepton Mallett has the most dealers, a possible problem is that some are likely to just have a "Scotland" section, which would make it time consuming. Depends how wide ranging your interests are really.

Re: New collector!

Hi and welcome. Other online sites would include delcampe, eBay and eBid. Also Picture Postcard Monthly is well worth subscribing to, and includes a diary of postcard fairs (mostly in the UK) Copyright has been discussed a few times on here, the conclusion generally being that it is not a problem wi...

Re: Albums and Auctions

I think this most likely a case of online bidding at a normal auction using something like http://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb ? Had it been purchased at a purely online auction site you would actually be in a stronger position - on eBay for example this could have been readily returned as "not a...

Re: who are you?

Wow - this an old thread :)

Anyway I attended the Nottingham postcard fair yesterday and Brian (reflections) still has identified dealers there, however the practice has not become widespread in the intervening years.

Re: Date & 'Understanding' a Bamforth Card please.

Hello Rodney - I would think that the caption is a reference to the food shortages in the UK in the later stages of the First World War, and for some time afterwards. It therefore dates from around 1918, give or take a few years, and would be quite sought after by Bamforth collectors - Kevin

Re: Farewell to the Royal

I like the way the man in green, about a yard away from Brian, continues to resolutely look through a box of postcards while the performance is going on. Clearly not going to be distracted from his quest for that elusive card by anything.

Re: Help please!!

Hi I am looking for some help in finding out more information about a postcard. A family member saved the picture from a group of photos they found online, while researching our local history. This was many years ago and the photo had no other info with it, except the heading Ridsmoor Hill school f...

Re: Stoddart & Co (JaJa series) Year established

Hi, can anyone confirm the year Stoddart & Co started the Ja Ja series postcards? I thought they were established in 1905 but i have a card dating 1904. Thanks I managed to find one on eBay posted in 1904, so it seems they actually were available then: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Huddersf...

Re: Who was the publisher of this card?

Just a guess really, but from the quality of the printing I would think this would have been produced in Saxony - more likely for an anonymous Australian publisher than on behalf of anyone in the UK.

Re: Bull fighting postcards

I have seen them in both the "Sport" and the "Animals" sections of dealers stocks at fairs, but generally under "Spain"

They exist in large quantities, and I'm not aware of any great interest in them, in the UK at least.

How many people in the postcard world are on twitter? I am (says Brian Lund) and you can follow me @Postcard_World This could turn into good fun and useful promotion for the hobby. More contacts, more possibilities... Not many that I have found Brian - my joint postcard / football account is @tumun...
