Re: An English postcard artist?
Could well be at the time of Suez as there's several other beer/petrol cards. I have also been posting on the West Lynn village Facebook page and stirred some memories there and hopefully something may come of that. Here's a couple of more of his cards. https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iV_YHAvSeLY/YASHx9E...

An English postcard artist?
Last week I bought an album of artist painted Christmas cards and assorted other artwork on eBay and I wonder if anybody here recognises the artist? The only information that is indicated on the cards is that the artist may have been a Pete Moody from West Lynn, Kings Lynn. There's about 40 cards in...

Re: Christmas Greetings
Christmas at last and paraphrasing a couple of lines from 2012 song "Trouble Town" by Jake Bugg - Where the only thing that's pretty Is the thought of getting out (of 2020) I'll be glad to see the 1st January 2021. To cheer myself up I started my Christmas card production earlier than usua...

Re: Online Vitals
The Delcampe figure seems wild! I can't find anything there these days - same old cards there for years.

Re: Hand Painted Postcards
A couple of more recent purchases; neither earth shatteringly interesting but I felt still worthy of preservation and only a few pounds. https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HYkc8qYbGzU/X85MZoqhZOI/AAAAAAAAmZE/6MXo_fXcOpkimefKRn0OLBmK0jfD2-xyQCLcBGAsYHQ/s719/Windmill%2Bhandpainted.jpg https://1.bp.blogspot.co...

Re: Hand Painted Postcards
Back in 2018 I purchased a hand painted card on eBay to adapt for use for as a Christmas card - the result (below right) was very pleasing; however, I recently came across what must have been the original card which my artist must have used as his inspiration. The original, in my opinion, was far in...

Re: Hand Painted Postcards
Thanks Steve, I had spotted that one a while back and while it's quite nice, it doesn't make the cut into my exclusive collection.

Re: Hand Painted Postcards
Another OAS card recently purchased from PTA member Richard Stenlake. It has suffered from exposure to sunlight - you can see just how much by looking at the margin - but it's ultra rare and hopefully I will be able to trade up in due course. Incidentally, I emailed all dealers mentioned on the PTA ...

Re: eBay versus "price gouging"
Au contraire - whatever about its origins, the art of "price gouging" has been taken to new levels by Irish dealers in postcards as well as everything else perceived to be old, from books to antiques. It's especially galling when one considers that your average online seller is not bothere...

Re: Hand Painted Postcards
After a lean couple of months on the collecting front which saw me driven to emailing PTA dealers looking for hand painted cards, a load turned up on eBay. Between half a dozen rare Irish "Jotters", an equally rare OAS card, and two 'must have' handpainted cards of the Newport Arch in Linc...

Re: Hand Painted Postcards
Another recent OAS postcard acquisition - by the now confirmed Olive Adelaide Swanzy (1881 - 1974) - but I'm struggling to find more online. Surely some of you UK dealers must have some in your stocks? Please contact me: collectireland@gmail.com if you have any to sell. Thanks. https://irishpostcard...

Fred S Howard postcard artist
Hi, I recently came across Irish postcards by the artist but I couldn't find any information online; anybody shed some light on the artist - birth/death etc. The cards were published by The Pictorial Stationery Co.Ltd., London. Thanks in advance. https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Hhutr2-5nwk/Xpb3zzO567I/AA...

Huge Postcard Auction in Ireland - 26th January 2019
There's seems to be no "New Topic" on the Events Page so I'm posting this here. 100,000 POSTCARDS FOR AUCTION In what is probably the largest auction of picture postcards ever held in Ireland, over 100,000 cards will be offered by Whyte’s on 26 January, 2019 This collection was formed by D...
