Re: Major changes on Ebay
Which will make it easier for HMRC (that's the taxman) to suss out who should be declaring the income from their eBay sales ! Moonraker With a bit of luck it will wipe out 90% of the competition in one go ...... One thing which does concern me is that US sellers have been granted free gallery pictu...

Major changes on Ebay
Lots of changes announced earlier in the week, including amendments to the fee structure and tinkering with the feedback system. The aspect that intrigues me most (though I'm still wading through the small print on all this) is the new requirement for sellers with over a certain turnover or number o...
It takes lots of individual views to achieve a balanced one. I've been collecting for almost 12 years, so it's a bit more difficult for me to find new material. But recently I've seen few duplicates of cards that I do have.I guess I was lucky to start collecting when I did - but how I wish ...

Re: £122 for a 1910 military Wiltshire card
Blimey. Just finished bidding for three postcards showing the South Midland Division arriving at and marching from Ludgershall Station in Wiltshire in 1910. I won two of the cards at "dealer prices", but the third went for a whopping £122, with someone else willing to go up to £120. It ...
The links still in the same place in the index (next to top) but we had to put the poster ad for next years BIPEX in a prominent position so the other link has moved down a bit.
The "other" link is the one I meant, a connection does seem unlikely but the tailing off in po...

Could that really be because Mike has moved the link to the forum lower down the PTA homepage ........ ?Moonraker wrote:I thought I would add something new to this slightly sluggish Forum!

From my recent visit to the Chester fair, the first for a long time, I too got a bit bothered by 'aggressive' dealers. I arrived soon after opening, and obviously a bit overwhelmed by the stock, had a quick scout around to see what was on offer. But sometimes I only had to glance at a table for the...

Re: High starting bids for eBay postcards
Kevin: do you every lose out by getting less than your stock price? In the case of one of the vendors I mentioned, I would have put in bids had his starting prices been 20% lower, or the equivalent of a lowish price at a fair, which might have prompted some rival bidding. I guess it depends how kee...

Re: High starting bids for eBay postcards
I don't expect eBay vendors to give away their cards for next to nothing, but I do wonder about those who set "starting bids" at "high retail" - what I would flicker an eyelid at if I saw them at a fair. There are two vendors in particular who do this, one listing more than a do...

Re: Postcards of village of Mey, Caithness or Castle of Mey
I wish to obtain postcards of the village of Mey, nr Thurso, Caithness, as well as cards of the Castle of Mey (or Barrogill Castle, as it was formerly known). There are a few of the castle on eBay at the moment. (You may have to be logged in to view the search results) http://collectables.search.eb...

Re: Wooden postcard?
First of all can I say "Hi everyone" I am very much the new one, new to this forum and fairly new to collecting postcards. I have been given a number of old postcards by a friend and have found one that seems different from others. It is a German postcard which was posted in Berlin West o...
