J Salmon: Artist

Post by Picky229 »

Hi,
I am actively looking for any artwork, oil paintings or other work by the artist James Panton ( my Grandfather ). After an international house move, I lost my only oil painting by him, and have been looking for any other works since.
James worked as an artist at J Salmon in Sevenoaks for some time in the 50's ... and I was wondering if there are any lists or information out there that may show which postcards James either painted or coloured etc.
( I have also written to J Salmon themselves for any advice ).
Many Thanks & Best Regards
Steve Picton

You may know already that the long established firm of J Salmon has ceased publishing since the end of last year.

There exists a Salmon Study Group since 1990 whose aims are to study and list all Salmon Postcard production since August 1900 to the present day: http://postcard.co.uk/salmon/ - I'm sure that they will be able to help here.

Best luck!
~ send it on a Postcard please ~

Many Thanks for the quick reply!
I have contacted the team currently running the admin for the Salmon copyright, licensing etc, but no reply as yet.
I will contact the study group, as they sound like the best people to hold information, or to confirm if any specific postcards or artwork are attributed to James Panton.
Thanks Again!
