Postcard Fair

Post by Malcolm M »

I am new to this.

I have been bequeathed a lot of postcards (300+)

They cover all periods from Edwardian/WW1 Sweetheart/ Humour/ Attwell/ Tucks/Phyllis Cooper/Foreign/Ships/Plus views 1950s athrough to 1970s

I intend to bring them all to the Fair on Sat and I want to sell.

Do Sellers tend to specialise and how will I know the best stands to go to?

Hello Malcolm - sellers do tend to specialise to a certain extent, often in cards showing views of their local area. This means you will get a range of offers for your cards depending on what each seller estimates they can retail them for.

Some stands will have signs displayed saying that they buy postcards, but in fact almost all would be looking to buy whether they openly advertise the fact or not.

The best approach is to show the collection to a few different dealers, which can get a bit tedious, but will enable you to obtain the best price.

Our main site has a section dealing with postcard values to give you some idea of what you could expect.

Hope this helps.
