Postcard collection clubs from edwardian times

Does anyone have information about the postcard exchange clubs which flourished around 100 years ago? I've come across one, the Cosmopolitan Correspondence Club based in Milwaukee USA. Members sent each other postcards, either for the views or for the stamps. Part of the deal was that each member included his or her name and membership number on the card (eg Ernest Boehme CCC member 1308). I've acquired 20 or so cards received by H Edwards, based at the time in Abeokuta Nigeria. They're all dated 1911 and come from 15 different countries. He in turn must have sent cards, and I'd love to acquire copies - they'd have been posted from Abeokuta Southern Nigeria, and bear his name and membership number 7274.
