Irish Railways

Post by CollectIreland »

Picked up this gem on eBay recently for just £ 3.04 incl.p+p. Interestingly it was erroneously described as a 1960s card. While it was posted in 1962, it was a far older card published by the famous Dublin firm of William Lawrence & Son. which operated from 1865-1942. The card was published for the Midland Railway (Northern Counties Committee) which operated lines in the North east of Ireland from 1903-23 before being taken over by the London, Midland & Scottish Railway. That puts the card firmly in the 1903-23 period rather than the 1960s - more here: https://irishpostcards.wordpress.com/transport/

As a former railway enthusiast I have spent the last twenty divesting myself of my railway collection but I find the art cards hard to resist - see what you think!
