Irish cards by "Jotter" aka Walter Hayward Young

The prolific postcard artist, Walter Hayward Young "Jotter", is the main reason for my interest in collecting postcards and while he produced quite a number of Irish cards some are exceedingly hard to find. Most of the ones undertaken by Raphael Tuck & Sons eventually turn up if one is patient, but the ones of Irish hotels published by Arthur Burkart & Co. are less easy to find. It seems strange that cards for some of the Great Southern Railway hotels such as Parknasilla, Kenmare and Killarney turn up quite regularly but ones such as the Belfast & Co.Down Railway's "Slieve Donard" (pictured below) rarely surface. This one sold on eBay in 2014 and I've never seen another - why this is so given the popularity of the Newcastle as a holiday resort puzzles me.

I managed to pick up another elusive one for the Midland, Great Western Railway's "Mallaranny" Hotel (below) from a Swedish seller a couple of years back but I haven't seen another since. Searching for Burkart "Jotters" is made even more difficult as, unlike Tuck & Sons, there's no database to indicate what's out there.

So, in conclusion, I'm in the market for Irish "Jotters" so let me know if you have anything that you might sell - even scans would be useful.

I was lucky enough to pick up the Salthill Hotel card a while back and it's a superb card. This one is painted from the hotel looking north towards Dublin. Another gem.

The artist painted a number of cards along this part of the coast and here's another from Dun Laoghaire/Kingstown which I purchased last year.

Kingstown, Co.Dublin from Sandy Cove

Latest "Jotter" purchased on Delcampe for just £2.90 incl.p+p. One of a number painted by the artist along the scenic stretch of coastline between Dalkey and Dublin. Published by Arthur Burkart & Co.,London. Does anybody know where I might come upon an index of their cards?

My latest "Jotter" by Arthur Burkart & Co., is this one of the Bray Head Hotel, Co.Wicklow. The only one I've come across since I started collecting and not one that I would have searched by name as the hotel is now very much in its declining years. Just over 11 pounds including p+p - a real gem! I'm still looking for any information about "Jotter" or Arthur Burkart & Company - please! So many viewers on this message board - so few posters!!

British cards by "Jotter" are fairly common but the Irish ones are like hens teeth - especially those by Arthur Burkart & Co.
