Re: Clyno Cars/ Motorcycles / Machine gun outfits

Hi Steve, a few years ago a postcard dealer friend of mine sold a postcard on ebay showing a man on a Clyno outfit. He sent me a scan because I usually identify his motorbike postcards for him. I can email it to you if you send me a pm with your email address. cheers, Howard http://postcardsthenandn...

Postcards Then and Now Blog

I've recently started a blog showing old postcards, compared to how the same location looks today on Google Streetview. I'm trying to update it daily. The postcards all come from my own collection. The URL is http://postcardsthenandnow.blogspot.com

Ebay rant

I am getting very fed up with ebay sellers who cannot be bothered to package their postcards properly. Many seem to think that a single piece of corrugated cardboard cut from a box is adequate protection. It is not. Corrugated cardboard will crease very easily in one direction. This is just penny pi...

Re: C & AG Lewis Ltd (Robin Hood Brand) - date?

Other Lewis cards I've seen have been pre-1915. They are always superb quality.
I have a few nice WHA postcards of Brentford, I'll email you scans via your website.

Postcard Collection Insurance

I think I need to get separate insurance for my postcard collection. Can anyone recommend insurance companies that have policies suitable for postcard collections? I already have general house contents insurance.

Here's my translation of the message on the back (punctuation added by me):

Dear Denis(?)
I thought you would like one of these cards of the proclamation of the new King at Kingston. I am in amongst the crowd. I remember what a sad event this is to us all. I hope you are all well from Auntie.

Fast Turnaround

Here's a classic example of a fast turnaround by a postcard publisher who's keen to capture local events and get his products out quickly. This is a card by Richard Charles Young (Young & Co) of Teddington, Middlesex, of King George the 5ths proclamation on 9th May 1910. The card has a postal da...

Yes, the Y&C you refer to is Young and Cooper, a Kent publisher I believe. The YC I'm interested in is YC of Teddington, Middlesex. Here's a typical YC of Chertsey, showing his distinctive script on the right and the YC monogram in the bottom left http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/4991/chertsey...

Well, I didn't expect a huge response, but I have actually had no response whatsoever. I am still very keen on buying any WHA or YC cards. I am also very keen on getting any information that anyone has on these publishers. My email address is santadog99 at yahoo.com. I am a little disappointed by se...

It is hard enough trying to find out who the publishers and photographers were on early postcards, without even worrying who owns the copyrights. Avoid reprinting anything by publishers who are still in business or were very well known publishers - ie Friths, Valentines, Judges, Tucks or WH Smiths e...

Wanted: WHA and YC postcards

Hello folks, I'm looking to buy any WHA postcards (WH Applebee of Ashford Middx) and YC postcards (Young & Co of Teddington Middx). WHA cards are well known and cover the Middlesex, Surrey, Berks, Bucks and Hants areas, and date between 1912 and 1929. The cards have neat writing and the letters ...
