Re: Visiting UK Fairs
I think you find the best cards at the bigger fairs, whwerever these may be.
York is one of my favourites, though BIPEX - picture postcard show is probably the best.
Are there any London based dealers these days? south east maybe?

Re: Picture Postcard Show
I enjoyed it, found some good cards and was impressed by the exhibition displays featuring seaside cards.

Re: Old Postcards.
Have a look on ebay, you'll see most of the comic postcards for the 1940's onwards are unsold. Mable Lucie Attwell collectors will be looking for cards in good condition. It always amuses me on ebay when sellers say ' in good condition considering it's age ' I've managed to to collect plenty of card...

Re: Hi, new and with a quiery
I think these Prescott Pickup cards were sold through regional newspapers all over the UK. We've got some here in the Royalty series, which I've seen quite alot of at auctions. Princess Diana etc. I've seen quite a few different series for Royalty. Haven't enough here to guess what the numbering sys...

Re: Making My Own Postcards
the manufacturers sites would normally 'feature' the ones that are most recent or contact the manufacturers and ask them

Re: Hiya, new here just want to discuss Postcards vs E-cards !
Well, I can't really collect phone calls. I do collect text messages but they fill up the phone so I have to delete them all. I could collect emails but somehow they just don't appeal to me.
So I collect postcards!
(mostly because I like the pictures)

I'm sure there will be collectors for them somewhwere, but these are the type of cards you usually see in the cheap boxes.

Re: London Postcard Fair - how was it for you?
I went on the friday and was surprised how busy it was compared to last year or second day at any large fair. Didn't find it cramped though and still managed to grab a chair here and there. Didn't find it too hot at all. This was the first fair I ever went to, but having now been to others, includin...

Stamp Dates
I've got quite a few cards in the collection that are posted, but I can't read the postmarks. Is there an way of finding the approx year from the type of stamp used. I've tried a google search but no luck.

I sort mine by location, unless I have a specific set which covers more than one area.

Re: York
Thanks Kevin, I went on staurday and had a fairly successful visit. The layout was a bit confusing as I nearly missed some of the extra dealers upstairs. Plenty to look at, but I think I'll try to get the day off and go friday next year as I think I may have missed out on some better cards.

York
I'm hoping to get to York next saturday.
Can anybody tell me what it's like for dealers, parking etc.
Hopefully I'll get a better response than for the Penkridge Fair?

Re: sending postcards 2008
I'm really ony intersted in old cards but do attempt to buy a few recent ones when I see them, last time was at a motorway service station on the M6. I suppose todays cards will be more collectable in the future, but generally they are so mass produced and unimaginative so I'm not so sure.
