Re: Buying Foreign Postcards in Italy

Hi Luca OK many thanks for this extra information ! I am searching for Australian postcards. So from what you say there is little Australian stock in your shop. If I have the time I will call before I arrive in Rome as I only have 2 days there. I will check out the flea markets ! Thanks for the tip....

Re: Buying Foreign Postcards in Italy

Hi Luca OK so Rome is another potential source, but your stock is limited. As my hotel is near the main railway station it looks as if your shop is over the river about 5-6kms away - near a tramway. Good. Yes I will visit if I can find the time - what are your opening hours ? Can you recommend any o...

Buying Foreign Postcards in Italy

Hi All I will be visiting Italy (Milan and Rome) in early October. Can anyone suggest good postcard outlets (dealers/shops/markets or fairs) for buying foreign cards ? I am mainly looking for Australian material and Italy could be a good source for 50s vintage cards sent by immigrants 'back home'. T...

RP Australian Cards

Hi there Well if you can tear yourself away from the Olympics bread and circuses in London perhaps you could list some spare foreign cards for sale on the internet ! The Australian dollar is particularly strong at present and there are eager buyers here waiting to lodge bids for quality RP material....

Visiting UK Fairs

Hi All It has been 3 years since I last visited the Uk and searched for Australian cards at fairs. Even in 2006 the prevailing view among people that I spoke to seemed to be 'don't bother going beyond London' as most of the good material ends up in the hands of London based dealers ... I have always...

Re: Foreign Cards on UK Ebay

Yes I am well aware of population differences but the dross that gets listed on Ebay currently can only be explained by the 'backpacker' desire to offload modern cards after a trip to Australia. Perhaps the dealing fraternity in the Uk is older and less inclined to use computers to sell ?? Fear of '...

Foreign Cards on UK Ebay

For many years I have been buying Australian cards on Ebay sites.

Curiously I have noticed that far more cards surface on the US site than on the UK site.

Do members have any ideas as to why this is so ?
