Re: East London Postcards

Hi
I'm very sorry, also extremely frustrated, because I've been trying for ages but for some reason I can't seem to upload the photo to this site. I've tried zipping the file, and that doesn't work. Can I email it to you?
My apologies if the fault is at my end.

Re: Japan Artist/Art Cards 1900-1940

Hi
I've just put three old postcards of Japan on Delcampe. Probably not what you're looking for, but worth a try.
Miidera, Otsu. Yachiyobashi at Miyanoshita. Rokkukudo Kyoto.
Any use?
lots of luck...

Re: Kew Gardens

Hi I have a postcard of The Great Palm House, Kew Gardens. I think it is probably quite a common one, so you may already have it. Photo by Gale and Polden ltd. Unposted. It is animated - in the foreground (although small) is a man in top hat, a lady in big hair bow and child in hat. Do you have it?

Re: East London Postcards

Hi I have an old photograph of tower bridge with barges and tugs. The photo was found in a lot which I bought at auction - several books of amateur photos. On the back of this one it says F11 3 1/2 mins - presumably something to do with exposure, which may date it. The paper is quite thin and the in...

Re: Images by Publisher Salmon

I'm newish to this game, but I think I've come across an unusual Salmon postcard, because it's taken me ages to even work out where the place is. It's a drawing of 'Boswells, Oakwood' by the artist Ernest Christie. He grew up in Redhill, so I'm presuming Oakwood is the school near there. Postmark lo...

Re: Stratton - Hampshire

Re East Stratton. I don't have postcards, but my father grew up in the village. I have his hand written memoirs - an account of living there at the turn of last century - his grandparents were tennant farmers and he went to the little school, also sang in the church. They lived in the thatched house...

Re: Canadian postcards - western provinces

Hi These may not be of interest if you are looking for town scenes, but I have a group of 7 old tinted Valentine cards, JV, unposted, mostly of Rockies, but one is of Banff Hotel and Mount Rundle - ref on the front is 100J56 JV, another is of Giant's Steps, Laggan, Alba, ref 103683 JV. Forgive my ge...

Re: Looking for Isle of Man / Have Many towns in Britain - Email

Hi I expect you already have plenty of The Laxey Water Wheel. The one I am happy to trade bears a good clear postmark 'Douglas, 15 July 09' and it was sent from 'Sea Level Boarding House' Douglas. It's a Valentine card, tinted, and the interesting thing is that it is addressed simply to Mr Chas Head...

Thank you very much. I only aquired my box of postcards by accident, so am terribly green about collecting. Your advice is much appreciated. I will follow through with the contact you gave me. Cheers...

Ships - the Ellora

I have a moody old photo stuck to a post card of the launch of the Ellora. I understand the ship was built over a hundred years ago, and it sank during WW2.

Obviously it's a bit rare. Question is - what forum do I use to make sure the postcard reaches the right collector?

Re: Images by Publisher Salmon

I have a Salmon cameracolour of Hereford. 1-32-03-07/3309c.

Someone who owned the card before me has marked it in pencil, 9/00.

Any interest?

Re: Brighton postcards wanted

I've just acquired some old postcards, and don't know much about the hobby. I have found a tinted postcard of an old wooden yacht called 'Out for a sail, Brighton' . On the back someone has pencilled 'WAF' - which you will no doubt understand. Shurrey's publications, printed by Delittle, Fenwik and ...

Re: Hotel Excelsior Casablanca

It's possible that the postcard I have is of the Excelsior, but I can't be quite sure because the wording on the front of the hotel is sideways. The address is 'Passage souterrain Place Mohammed V'. The building has arches over the windows and the restaurant below has a different name, I think start...
