Re: Raphael Tuck - request
Wow! Lots of questions. Daniel, I have a number of Raphael Tuck postcards, but as a return question, were these series of specific locations, on specific topics, or random? All my postcards are of castles. I'll have to check which series they come from.

Re: Ebay rant
I also collect old engravings and prints, and so many times the delicate print comes enclosed in a substantial boarded envelope, ony to be additionally wrapped in a freezer bag with huge amounts of sellotape, making it very difficult to extract the item without creasing it in any way. Easy to packag...

Re: hello all
Hi Ian. Welcome to the world of postcard collecting. Have you thought of any area of interest you want to follow. For me it's British castles. I started by buying modern cards (at least, they WERE modern when I bought them). Then I moved to older cards - preferably pre-1940. My first purchases came ...

Re: Unauthorised copying of images on ebay
It is possible (although I'm not sure how) to watermark images. This might be a solution to images being copied.

Re: London Postcard Fair - how was it for you?
I only managed a couple of hours on the Friday. Still, I managed to spend a good deal, and got some good deals. Thanks to all who made it a great occasion.
Now for next year.

Re: Acceptable condition
I'd never thought of grading my cards by condition, or by the quality of the picture - the latter being possibly being more of personal opinion. I get "WHAT DO YOU SEE IN THAT?" comments regularly, but then, when I've stopped to watch others make their purchases, I feel like making the sam...

Personally, I would leave prefer to leave such work to experts - or leave the foxing as it is.

Re: Most appealing subject of postcard collecting
Andrew, thanks for your post elaborating on your castle collection. In my London interest I also branch out into non-postcard media. For a time I was buying any old print I could find that showed a London church, including engravings by Shepherd and those published by Robert Wilkinson and The Comple...

Re: Sorting Postcards
When I started collecting, everything went into one pot, as it were - old and modern, used and unused, photos and postcards, English Welsh and Scottish castles. Very haphazard, but I had no idea what was to come. Firstly I separated the modern from the old. Then came the next stage - allocating diff...

Re: Most appealing subject of postcard collecting
I collect old postcards of castles because I have an interest in the architecture and history - which extends to old prints and engravings, as well as books on the subject. Modern books / booklets included, particularly sales particulars for any castle that is put on the market. And hey - I just lik...

Re: Mirrored Postcard
This happened occasionally when photographers printed images back-to-front by accident. My parents have a lovely photograph produced professionally of a view of their village - but it is in reverse. Hundreds of copies were sold. I suspect though this does not happen often, and like stamps, could wel...

Re: sending postcards 2008
My wife always insists on sending postcards whilst on holiday. I do my bit and add a sentence or two, if it's to a member of my family, but normally I leave it to her. I never know what to say.

Re: Deltiologists -Your most interesting story
One interesting story is probably of little interest to others - it was in coming across a particular postcard of Bramber Castle in Sussex. I have seen other copies of this postcard for sale on e-bay since, but that is irrelevant. The postcard pictures the chapel in the castle, and is from a paintin...

Re: £122 for a 1910 military Wiltshire card
Moonraker,
I was given (yes, given) an album containing a couple of hundred old postcards, one of which is a faded Kentish military real photo postcard. Would you be interested in it? If so, I'll dig it out from the album.
Regards
Andrew
