Re: John Walker & Co Geographic Series Index

Thanks for that link. Fairly incomplete, and missing the cards from the colonies. Is there a more complete list anywhere? True, there are some gaps in the numbering on there, including the overseas ones, but it's a pretty good listing and so well illustrated too. I'm sure the numbers are correct, j...

Re: Valuation of a card help required.

It obviously holds dear to you and was worth the £15 you paid for it all those years ago. To someone else it has different appeal. Yet I'm sure it doesn't turn up very often, and there it is being copied online for a pittance, which devalues yours entirely! Have you asked the seller where he obtaine...

Some Post Card events have taken place already - the smaller events :-)

Things might change again this week of course...

Re: eBay versus "price gouging"

Amazing! Well, that's capitalism for you - working on the law of supply and demand!

And the term "price gouging" is another Americanism that we can do without quite frankly ... ebay just enhancing it without recourse as usual.

Best luck with sales! :D

Re: Coronavirus and fairs

Every time ELP recommends eBid I check it out with my two regular search terms, with very disappointing results: "Salisbury Plain" - collectables: eBid - 18 hits; eBay - 644 "military Wiltshire" - collectables: eBid - 6 hits; eBay 684. And all the eBid listings are of dross, nea...

Re: Copies of Postcards

It's a great thing that you do there Peter; certainly an asset for a collector to be able to see more and also get a better looking image, especially so with a damaged postcard as many are. Enhancements and improvements are one thing, but to copy images without permission and to sell these on is ano...

Re: PC delivered 112 years late! Humbug!

When I used to send out cards on approval I occasionally had the unwanted ones returned in inadequate packaging, which would come open disgorging some or all of the contents into the postal system. This is certainly one way that these "late deliveries" could come about. Indeed - this is a...

Copies of Postcards

There are a number of sellers online who appear to be doing rather well selling scanned copies of postcards, I wonder who buys these?

As a collector, I much prefer the real thing... woudln't you?

Re: used/unused

I am new to this hobby and greatly enjoying it. I would like to ask the 'experts' what the difference in value is between 'used' and 'un-posted'? Any guidance would be very welcome. I am no expert, but to a Topographical collector it makes little difference, other than a clue to date the view, if i...

Re: Used postage stamps torn off cards - why?

Saw some lovely overseas postcards today in an antique arcade. All were reduced to 50p each because they all had their stamps removed, and not very well - the stamp was ruined, and so was the postcard! urggggggggghhh!! - tragic!

Hello Ray - what do you mean by thankful villages and double thankful villages?
