Re: Early aviation postcard

You should certainly get quite a bit more than the £4.50. You need to research the card first and try to identify the aeroplane. There's a big clue on the back "Torquay July 27th 1910". I might be wrong but this might be the aviation pioneer Claude Graham-White. White was disturbed by the ...

Re: info on Tuck postcards please

Re the 'some more' cards, I've not seen them but from your descriptions they sound like gallery art reproductions so not of value. If you are working though a lot of items then it can make sense to take them along to a local postcard fair, most dealers will be happy to help. If that's not an option ...

Re: info on Tuck postcards please

Your aunt had some very nice cards. The Jennie Harbour examples have a book value of around £8/US$13 BUT usually sell for lower prices on ebay and elsewhere. Harbour is much collected, condition is all important. The others you mention are routine items about £2 per card.

I hope this helps

Re: Identifying logos

Hello Thelma, Your list of postcard logo sites is much the same as my own, the Metropolitan and the TPA project sites in particular being good sources. I've looked in the past and haven't found others with the same breadth of coverage. The Playle.com site has few pages displaying postcard backs but ...

Re: postcard database software

To suggest a tangental approach.... I know it's not quite what you were asking for but Why not use one of the free to use 'in the cloud' web services to host your data. In some ways it can be better. The data is held in a format that can usually be exchanged very easily with other software products....

Re: Copyright

If you are in the UK then the link below explains the law. As stated above, the copyright is held by the originator of the item or, if the originator worked for or sold the rights on, the publisher. Copyright does lapse after some years, for most items in the UK it's 70 years from the end of the cal...

Re: help

Hello Mandy, I'm not sure how much help this is, but it's a start. The photographer was a " Frederick George Christopher " (Christopher was the surname) and he had premises at Abbey Street in Crewkerne, Somerset . The 1914 Kelly's directory of Somerset lists the photography business. The 1...

Re: VICTOR BEVERIDGE

I ran quick search and got what I imagine are the same results as yourself; a reference to Motor Magazine in the 1920's with no further information except that their Beveridge was a journalist, a reference to advertising art in the first few years of the 1900's but again with no details just the nam...

Re: Verdier Ltd. London, W. Postcard Printed in England

Hello Helen, The pictures are there, I can see them now. Getting set up with a Flickr account (or with photobucket or any of the others) can be a pain but now that you have done so you'll find it much easier to post pictures to this and other sites or just use it to share images with others. It's a ...

Re: Verdier Ltd. London, W. Postcard Printed in England

I stand corrected...., you are quite right Kevin. Perhaps there was more than one West London company with the same name and I got the wrong one or I've missunderstood the Company registration data (though the Public Records Office did suggest that it was a 1909 company dissolution). Whatever, you a...

Re: Verdier Ltd. London, W. Postcard Printed in England

The only record I can find relating to Verdier Ltd is a reference to a company of that name being wound up (in 1909 I think), the details are at the The National Archives, Kew. Free to view if you can visit in person, otherwise a charge for on line access. The rererence number for the record is BT 3...
