Re: Old Postcards.

Looks as though l'm out of luck with these cards...l really thought someone out there might have a bit of advice, has anyone any idea where else to check..please...Cindy. :? It's always difficult to comment on postcards when you can't actually see them (or better still, handle them) As a rough guid...

Re: Ebay rant

I am getting very fed up with ebay sellers who cannot be bothered to package their postcards properly. Many seem to think that a single piece of corrugated cardboard cut from a box is adequate protection. It is not. Corrugated cardboard will crease very easily in one direction. This is just penny p...

Re: Unauthorised copying of images on ebay

I was thinking of compiling lists of Beagles, Lillywhite and Rotary film star postcards, with pictures. Then I was hoping to put them up to somewhere like Flickr so that other collectors can use the info to help with their collections. Would I be wrong to use e-bay pictures, and pictures from other...

Re: Unauthorised copying of images on ebay

Looking at the copyright threads on here, I'm wondering if this seller is actually doing anything wrong? If there was any copyright on these images the rights would in fact lie with the original publisher/photographer? This seller is not trying to pass their wares off as original items, or even as p...

Re: Publisher E.R.G. & Co in Blackpool

This is Edward Rhodes Green & Co, who were based in Victoria St in Blackpool (hence the Victoria series) However their postcard output only seems to go up to the First World War era, so it is extremely unlikely that they would be producing Greetings Cards etc in the late 1940s. Here is an exampl...

Re: Some assistance required :)

Hi potti - I don't think you need to go into a great deal of detail in order to sell cards on eBay. A good clear scan and an accurate description of the condition are the main considerations. Just naming the artist, publisher or photographer would be sufficient (serious collectors would know all abo...

Re: Mirrored Postcard

I suspect that the early publishers were often aware that a printing error had been made, but decided to have a go at flogging them anyway, rather than write them off.

Sadly, unlike stamps where such errors could potentially fund a retirement, it's curiosity value only for postcards.

The main brand names they used were Kingsway, Derwent and Aldwych.

Re: Ebay or fairs? The choice is yours.

I disagree with Tony about fair attendances - York had an improved attendance from 2007, as did Nottingham in February, and Cheltenham has certainly revived under its new management. As for eBay v. fairs, surely these are just two different buying/selling opportunities with separate dimensions. At ...

Re: Postcard Copyright

Does anyone know what the copyright laws are for old postcards? I have two projects in mind: 1. Exhibition in my village of cards from 1900 to 2000 showing how it has developed and changes - would like to scan and blow up some of the images so that they can be seen more clearly 2. Booklet to go wit...

Re: BOOK POST CARD

I have just bought some Postcard albums 1903 at an auction. In one of them there are Book Postcards, like book marks with actresses on 1902 to 1904. I have never seen these before, can anyone tell me about them. They are nice cards. Where they popular? are they rare? have I just missed them at post...
