..that's correct. If you have the cards printed by a printer and you then sell them you are the publisher.

ie. the person that organises / prepares the material for public distribution.

I see the number of members has been cut from over 200 to 72. Presumably the ones cut out are those who have not posted at any stage. Things have been quiet here too. Is there REALLY nothing happening in the postcard world? Has this place become a graveyard, or are there lots of people on holiday? ...

Wirral Postcard Fair - Sunday 21st October

I've posted details on next weekends 'Wirral Postcard Club' event http://www.postcard.co.uk/messages/postcard/viewtopic.php?t=594 The autumn Wirral...

The type of 'trade' dealing you are suggsesting happens fairly rarely, dealers will of course buy off each other before a fair opens to the public, but often this will be random purchases made with a 10% discount. Some 'deals' do of course take place though not very often... for example if I bought ...

I bought a number of these in bulk about 10 years ago or more. Somebody I used to deal with bought a vast quantity in auction of what I assumed was the clearance stock when they ceased trading. Iselected a few dozen packs of 100 cards. I'll sort out what I still have and let you have a list by PM.Me...

As a dealer/stanholder I much prefer the panelling for the show for many reasons... the wall space you can use for displays - or simply to tell the public who you are! the privacy they provide - I get along with most other dealers but there are a few I might not like to sit next to for three / four ...

I hate seeing biro / ballpoint or felt-tip writing on old cards, and we always make an allowance for this when pricing - in my eyes it's easily as bad as a crease or tear. Other pet hates are rubber-stamps such as the infamous 'Hogsthorpe Horror' from the 1980's and the parallel lines you get from t...

it also depends on the subject.. I've known photos fetch as much or more than equivalent postcards on ebay, probably where collectors are more interested in the detail or information contained in the image.

Interesting thought Kevin, perhaps 'rare' is a term you can't really use with postcards at all. I tried to think about what I would call a 'rare' card and initially thought of anything I'd only seen once or twice in the past 30 years... but then again everytime I buy a new collection there are usual...

You'd best make a start on it then...! I don't know if any of the other lists exist.

The idea behind it was to promote and help with research into various postcard themes / publishers etc. This included some checklists to browse or download.. The response to the section was very disapointing and it's...
