Re: Scholastic Production Co. Belfast

Another recent purchase which I believe to be a Scholastic Productions card but I have nobody to ask. Presumably the SP Co.logo indicates that it is the same concern? Thanks in advance for any information. Happy New Year. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-k7VOm2VOjWI/VoXI9se7MmI/AAAAAAAAEUE/-jMFMp_OpRs/s160...

Re: STF Switzerland

And, yet again, just when I thought I had got to the bottom of the mystery...I came across this card - published by Scholastic, printed in Switzerland and carrying the STF logo! I have the identical card with just the STF logo and no mention of Scholastic. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gUzWxMPmFwM/Vi5Ek...

Re: STF Switzerland

Since posting earlier I've partly answered my own question following a visit to http://www.metropostcard.com/publisherss3.html - should have gone there first but I might as will leave this here now. The postcard used to illustrate the entry for Stehli Freres is by Irish artist Maurice Canning Wilks ...

STF Switzerland

Just when I thought that I was beginning to get a handle on the postcard output of Scholastic Productions Belfast when another mystery arises. The card shown below is one of a number by Scholastic but that also appear in another variation with the logo STF . Anybody able to throw any light on this o...

Re: Wrench London Checklist?

Thanks to Alan my database and collection continues to grow daily. My latest acquisition was another ' must have ' and I passed on an used version of the same card in preference for this gem! I'm up to 231 identified Irish cards today. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-a5jbPXR9TJg/VfFU5lt-0MI/AAAAAAAAEG8/Qj...

When is a Misch & Stock card NOT a Misch & Stock card?

I have recently started collecting the Misch & Stock 'Natures Miniatures ' Irish series but I have encountered a problem. The card (below) is definitely from the series and the artist is S Bowers - who seems to have done all the other cards in the series - but the back of the card is not Misch &...

Re: Wrench London Checklist?

Just reached 192 Irish cards. I took the plunge and bought this one on eBay last week - €11including p+p from France. Worth every cent and not looking bad for a 114+ year old piece of ephemera! The pink hue is not on the card and appears to be caused by my scanner. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CQoA8i0y...

Re: Francis Frith or F. Frankel & Co.

Thanks for the information and I'm certain that you're correct. I was led astray through a purchase that was sold as Francis Frith but was by Frankel.

Re: Wrench London Checklist?

Up to 166 Irish Wrench's identified now and I've stepped up my purchasing too! I picked up the ten cards -pictured below - for less than €1 each including p+p on Delcampe's German site. All unposted and in mint condition. Just as well they were so cheap as I had to pay over £11.00 for the ' must hav...

This is the logo that appears on some F.F.& Co. cards - is this a clue?

Re: Scholastic Production Co. Belfast

And my most recent Scholastic purchase, found on a German site last week, is by Gladys MacCabe . She was born in Northern Ireland in 1918 and is a relatively big name in the Irish art world. This is the only postcard that I've come across by her published by Scholastic or anybody else for that matte...

Re: Scholastic Production Co. Belfast

This one is by L.Murdoch (probably a lady who taught art in Belfast) but no definitive information yet.

Scholastic Production Co. Belfast

I'm looking for information about the Scholastic Production Company of Belfast who produced postcards in the 1930/50s period - possibly earlier and later. The company seems to have been wound up in 1955 and despite extensive trawling of Belfast Arts and Library institutions I’ve turned up precious l...

Re: Wrench London Checklist?

I also collect Wrench cards but only started in the last couple of months. I only collect Irish cards, and only the early ones at that, i.e nothing coloured is of interest. So far I have identified 128 individual cards but I'm sure that it's only the tip of the iceberg as Evelyn Wrench was originall...
