Large postcard collection

Hello, I have several thousand postcards that belonged to my late Father, who collected over many years. Some were bought for 50p, some for £50... They are well organised into categories - topographical, 19th C/Early 20th C, Romance, comic, seaside, lots of Donald McGill and Bamforth, Stocker Shaw, Reg Maurice. A LOT of donkey cards. Also multiple babies/military. All in plastic wallets in very good condition. I would be really grateful for any advice on selling these. I'd rather not list them all individually on ebay. I wouldn't mind trying a collector's fair, or speaking to a valuer at an auction house, or selling direct to a dealer. Many thanks, Kathryn

The easiest and quickest route is to sell directly to a dealer who is likely to purchase the collection as a whole, but will obviously pay less than the retail prices made by your Father ... it would be an overall price. You can Contact a dealer/dealers near you from our list here: https://postcard.co.uk/dealers.php or speak to any dealer at a Postcard Fair nearby https://postcard.co.uk/fairs.php - they would be happy to advise.

Auction Houses offer an alternative and would likely sell the collection in smaller lots that may bring better prices... no guarantees however, and there would be commission fees to pay and a longer wait for any monies to be received.

If you take a stall at a fair, a certain number might sell ... but not straight away - it might mean several fairs and you will have overheads here too (stall rent, travel etc.) + you would have to price everything up beforehand - very time consuming!

Best luck!
