POSTCARD FAIR TAKEOVER
The West London Postcard Fair that takes place 3 times a year in Teddington is almost the last fair of its type still taking place regularly in the London area.
I have been running it for the last few years following the passing of Martin Thompson.
The fair takes place in the hall of Teddington Baptist Church and is both successful and profitable.
We get an average of 12-14 dealers each time and the attendance over the the last few fairs has been between 80 and 100 people paying at the door.
I have now got to the age where I’m struggling to continue managing the fair and am looking to hand it over to someone else for 2026 or before.
The relationship with the church is a good one and we can usually access the hall on the Friday morning to lay out the tables and chairs and for a few of the local dealers who assist with the tables to bring their stock in ready for the Saturday morning. The fair runs from 10.00 till 4.00.
There is a very well stocked kitchen which we use to sell hot and cold drinks along with sandwiches, cakes and biscuits etc. No cooking is necessary and a profit is also made on the catering which my wife currently manages. Ideally anyone taking over would need to get someone else in to run the kitchen on the fair days.
So, we don’t want to see this fair disappear but I need someone else to take over the reins.
I’m not looking to sell it so it would just be a handover but I would like to continue as one of the dealers without any management responsibility for a while yet.
Next year’s dates are already booked as 22nd March, 14th June and 11th October. I will continue with these but the October 2025 fair will be the last one unless someone else takes it over.
I will be pleased to assist anyone with the takeover and one or two of the regular dealers who live locally are also very supportive.
