Earley near Reading - Green Monkey Restuarant

Post by shaun underhill »

I am looking for any postcards that feature Shepherds House Hill on the A4 Bath Road at Earley just outside Reading.

In particular the Green Monkey Restaurant, a 1930's Art Deco corner building that stood there until the mid 1960's.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

With thanks,

Shaun

Hello Shaun

I have a photograph (not postcard) dated 1949. It shows three men in shorts stood beside a very large 'The Green Monkey' licensed roadhouse cafe sign.

Kind regards

Ian

Hello Ian,

Thanks ever so much regards this. Would there be any chance of a copy or even acquiring the original on loan? My contact number is 07584 044161.

Best wishes,

Shaun

I possess an image (not a postcard) that bears the date 1949. A huge licenced roadhouse cafe sign reading "The Green Monkey" stands next to three short-sleeved males in the photo.
