Gave up on e bay, be warned, they no longer pay out using paypal, but handy for buying odd things, I use Delcampe but be careful since Brexit!

eBay is still the best by far for buying but I gave up selling there a good while ago. Brexit, the dopey Global Shipping Programme and then the messing about with the payment system was the final straw. Being based in the Republic of Ireland, I have had to resort to having all my purchases from eBay and any other mainland UK sellers sent to a friend in Northern Ireland - saves me a fortune but means it's often weeks before I receive items.

I tried signing up to sell on eBay today - having put all the Brexit/Global Shipping etc. to one side - but I fell at the final hurdle as they wanted me to link to a bank account on their list. The only one with a branch in the Republic on the list was the Ulster Bank and they are leaving the Irish market in a couple of months - you couldn't make it up!

So once again I turned in desperation to Delcampe - after battling through all their waffle I finally signed up as a seller and listed a single item! Is it just me or is there tumbleweed taking over on that site. I never find anything new, just the same cards year in, year out. I buy on both sites but selling on Delcampe should be 'interesting'.

There's also lots of "tumbleweed" on eBay, most better items being over-priced. I search it by "military Wiltshire" localities and many of the individual listings are swamped by modern photographic copies and modern colour photos, often showing very mundane subjects, @ £2 or so each.

As for selling, I was lucky in getting rid of most of my stamp collection, partly to oversea buyers, before BREXIT and VAT bit on sales to the EU. All the other stuff I want to sell is nearly all of domestic interest.

You forgot to mention the reason it's easier to navigate - there's nothing on it compared to eBay and even Delcampe.

I usually list stuff on eBay in the winter, but decided to offer a couple of pieces of paper ephemera yesterday. What with the scanning, certainly not worth my while, but they might interest someone. I discovered that a few months ago eBay had introduced a new listing system that was meant to be simpler but it wasn't for me - and judging from the wails on forums other people found the same. I think that it might be for the benefit of mobile-phone users. I gather that half-a-dozen eBay geeks held a Zoom meeting to sort out some of the glitches, but it's still not great.

The new system "remembered" some of my input from my last listings, but the letter size and postage rate didn't apply to what I was trying to do. And I never did see a choice for how long the listing should run.

I switched to the old version that is still available for "Business" customers, though I'm not one such.

I can see that the new system might be OK for people listing one postcard after the other, but it remains clumsy for sellers offering a range of different items.

Partly to breathe some life into this forum:

Over the years there have been several exhortations to use eBid, but when it comes to my collecting interests, I've always found it offers only dross, and even then only six to ten items, compared with eBay's hundred or so.

Until last night, when one of my occasional casual searches yielded five items - including a desirable uncaptioned card of a site that I recognised and at a ridiculously low Buy It Now price. The vendor is away for a fortnight, so activity is suspended; his return date is in my diary.

Update: Just looked at Delcampe for "military Wiltshire" and found four cards, three unexciting, one overpriced by 60%. I tried "military Salisbury" and got another four cards, one of which was of interest, but it would be posted from Italy, so I suppose there would be an extra charge, VAT, Customs or something.

hmmmm... ebay may have more to offer - but is it sale-able/selling?

I have just viewed an ebay seller who has over 700,000 postcards, cheapest being £4.99!! - just a dumping ground in my opinion... and trying to get the uninitiated ... most of the items can be found in 50p boxes at Fairs!!!
